There is only so much that you can do with a speed 300 motor. Scorpion, Beast, Krystal 3... These motors will all yield very similar speed gains.
The replaceable brushes will allow you to keep your motor running much much longer. Those tuned 300 motors that you are referring to don't last and the brushes are much shorter than the 280 brushes.
You may not like replaceable brushes but they are a good thing. Look at almost every 1/10 motor on the market and they feature replaceable brushes.
1/10 motors without replaceable brushes to most guys are just toy motors and in my opinion so are these 300 motors.
i think he was leaning more toward the mass produced brushed motors in his question and not a custom job ( of course i could be wrong

) that anyone can have made up.
your correct they do all yield very similar speed gains with the scorpion just a bit faster.
true they may not last as long as a changeable brush motor but then again their half the price and theirs also the cost of brushes and the cost of rebuilding the motor.
by the time your done you could have literally paid for 3 drop in and go scorpion motors for the price of 1 of yours and a rebuild.
dont forget that most people dont know how to rebuild brushed motors so the 300 are a much better choice from that stand point as well.
and to thous guys who think that non replaceable brushed motors are a toy, wait till a BL system blows them by, their thinking my change after that.
hence the reason BL motors are not allowed in 99% of sanctioned races.
theirs not an R/C brushed motor on the planet that can touch a top of the line BL system.
im not just talking about top speed either, you can get both motors to 60MPH for instance but the BL one will get their in 1/3 of the time.
and the best part of the BL systems is..............their maintenance FREE!!
im not knocking your motor im sure its top shelf, im just saying for the average joe the drop in and go 300 are a much better fit.

also theirs nothing wrong with playing with TOYS
