I pre-tie a loop in the string. To put it on the plane I loop the string around the airplane, then feed the streamer though the loop on the end of the string. It's quick, easy, works on any plane, and nearly foolproof. It also makes it easy to quickly re-attach another streamer if it becomes necessary.
