It is a tempation to over power these planes. Resist it if you can. Personally, I think the perfect motor would be a .46 two stroke or the closest equivalent four stroke.
Even with my 40LA, the plane flies terrific. If that is what you have, do not hesitate to use it. It can perform all the scale maneuvers. It certainly doesn't have a long vertical climb but it definitely has enough to be very enjoyable and appropriate.
As far as the wind goes, even with the 40LA, there is enough power to get up, realize that there is too much wind to make it enjoyable and to safely get back down again. Afterall, it is a high flat-bottomed wing trainer and so flying on windy days isn't much fun.
