RE: People still crazy for the mini3D?
I'm running a new .25 LA on a 2LB 2oz Pizza Box Flyer. The second flight I doinked it and broke the backplate. Ordered a new metal (FP) backplate from the LHS and also ordered a 32 H carb under the recommendations of Paul Swanson. I had to turn almost 1/8 of an inch off the throat of the carb in order to have it fit the LA. First time I cranked it up with the new carb I couldn't believe it. THE POWER WITH THE NEW CARB WAS UNBELIEVABLE!!! Sorry I didn't tach it, but off hand I'd say at least 2 to 3 K increase. My little PBF went from pretty good power to a rocket. This plane is now the first plane that I've ever had that almost has too much power. I fly at about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle and only use full for long ballistic climb outs. The guys at the club were 100% convinced that I had a hot .46 on the plane when they saw it fly. They were in shock when they saw the .25. The sticker shock of the carb was a little hard to take as it cost almost as much as the engine, but now that I've used it I know it was worth every nickel.
