First off you should definitely get a nitro vehicle. You mentioned that you thought traxxas was expensive. I don't think they're that bad. For a first timer I would get a stadium truck because the larger wheel base making them easier to control and they're sturdy and can take a beating. I race stadium trucks and will probably never race anything else considering I currently have 5 losi xxx-nts.
