RE: O.S. 46LA vs 46FX. For Trainer & 2nd.plane
I would like to suggest that using the engine out of your trainer for something else won't be a problem, because you're probablly NOT going to pull it out in the first place. It's always nice to go to the field with two planes, something very relaxing, and something a little hotter. Plus, you never know when you might want to train your buddy, daughter, son, wife, S.O., etc etc, and it never hurts to have a flight ready trainer around. True, you can switch engines in an hour or so, but why bother?

P.S. I had same thought with my trainer, and the engine that was on it would STILL be on it if it hadn't crashed.....
