I have had a blast with my new stampede, but...

Is it just me or are installing the friction pegs into a spur gear the most maddening thing you've ever had to do? Is there an easy way to do this? Also, I have never had any trouble stripping spur gears in my Evader, but my stampede has stripped a spur gear about every other time I use it.
