Best Connectors?
First let me apologize if this is an old question, but I didn't find anything with a search. I am looking at the exposed welding cables coming out of an AXI motor and both sides of a Castle controller. I guess you might want to disconnect them sometime and that would be more difficult if they are soldered together. I have used Ultra connectors in smaller applications for years with no problems except for the lack of handles to pull them apart. So far I haven't (intentionally) put more than 20 amps through them.
Now I'm looking at maybe 70 to 100 amps. Does anyone have any strong preferences about connectors for this type of current? I will need the same thing at the battery. I don't think I want to wrestle with ultra connectors here after each flight.
Then I have a corollary question. If you remove the LiPo's after each flight to charge them, Is there really any need for an on/off switch? The switch normally used would only shut off the BEC to the rec. and leave the ESC to drain the LiPo's to destruction. At least the ESC's I currently (no pun intended) have do. If you put the lid down on a freshly charged battery in the ZAGI tonight you will have a dead battery tomorrow. The only thing the switch shuts off is any control you might have.
Thanks for any help.
