Jason, after trying the Standard Advance timing, you may want to try the High Advanced timing. It should give better response and efficiency for the AXi motor as it has 12 poles. I agree with all the other options as posted by ChimChim. I just bought my third Axi motor after running a Razor 350 and Gearbox for a while now. Nice and quiet, no more bent shafts, stripped gears, busted gear housings, etc.
Also, there is a way to reverse the motor mounting without buying the radial mount by taking the motor apart and tapping out the shaft, then install in from the back with a 1/8 inch wheel collar.
And the shaft is 1/8 inch (3.17 mm) meaning you can easily replace it if neccessary. (I had to [X(])
