RE: Evolution engine, Need commend
My TPS .45 is a screamer. No deadsticks no matter what I do to it. I'm running it with a APC 11x7 and removed the flywheel. My Xtra Easy 2 will take off in about 6 feet and climb out at a 45 degree angle, so I'm very happy with it. The only 2 deadsticks that it had were due to trash in the needle valve. After flushing it, no problems. I don't count those deadsticks as I trapped the trash and some of it were large bits. I get away with a lot of near stall condition flying near the ground because the engine always gets me out of trouble. I completely trust it so I take chances and have a ball with the plane.
The trick to starting it cold is to cover the carb and give it 4-5 turns with full throttle. It always starts with a bump from the starter. It won't pull the fuel unless you are at max throttle.
I bought the .46 NT today to replace a troublesome .46 FX. I'll fly it next weekend if another plane gets repaired. If not, it goes on the XE2 for a while and I'll have more fun.
