I guess we might as well keep this "final word" going
The only synthetic I've ever dared to use was Mobil Jet Oil 2 and I found the head temp was 10C higher than with straight Castrol M. However this was just a quick check and could have been caused by a slightly different tune or because I was using 18% synthetic compared to 20% castor.
