You might want to hunt around the hardware/paint stores... here, at least, we can get 99% methanol (doesn't say what the other 1% is and is labeled as "Methyl Hydrate"... the "old" name for methanol) in 4 liter(approx 1 US Gal) jugs for about $8.00 CDN.
