Default Company Plug....

I want to reverse a trend. I've seen a few folks who have had a bad time with one company or another, for whatever reason. I want to share two fantastic experiences I've had here just recently.

First has been with Global Hobby. I bought some parts from them recently, and both my orders have been packed with great care, arrived on time and been exactally what I ordered, with one exception. A wing set I ordered was missing some small parts. An email later, and the parts were on their way. Great customer service. And yes, I did email them and tell them so.

Second has been with Hobby Electronics in Ft Walton Beach, FLA. I bought a Radio South Pro-Driver II just recently. Seen a few out at the field, and lately I've been draining my hot shot, so I figured it was time. Now, let me state, that even though I managed to stick my finger in a spinning prop, I'm still not all that smart. So I assemble my airplane, and get set to prime the carb. Normally, I don't put the hot shot anywhere near the glow plug when I'm priming, but I figure, this thing isn't on untill I push the button, what the heck. So I hook up, and of course don't bother to look at the LED's. I open the carb, put my finger over the opening and prime no problem. Take my finger away, and I usually give the prop a flip or two to get the fuel up into the cylinder. Well, first flip, and it's running at full throttle. The one real smart thing I did was make sure I had a good hold of the plane first, fortunately it only ran for a second or two before it quit. Talk about a clencher. I had guys coming down to make sure I still had all my fingers. Turns out the driver was on already, if I had taken a second to look at the led's I'd have seen that. Anyway, I got to looking at the unit, and discovered that it wouldn't go off, apparently the switch was defective. I asked my LHS if they'd switch it out, and when they said no I called Hobby Electronics. I left a message, then got a call a few seconds later. It's to my eternal shame that I forgot the gentelman's name I talked to, but he said "that's the third one this week with a sticking button". After talking to him I sent the unit in on Thursday, and got it back today. Works perfectly now, and I have no doubts it will be working perfectly ten years from now. I don't blame the company for my little incident... that's all my dumb ass doing. But their customer service skills are second to none... way to go. Nice to know there's still folks like that out there in this impersonal internet world....
