I bought a Great Planes PT40 and put a 40 LA engine in it- Built it from a kit and built the trainer wing (it has self correcting abilities) and than built a sport wing with less dyhedral (?sp) and it was a great step up with more experience.
As said previously- find an instructor who can be of immense help and educating with minimal damage. Good Luck
