Seen fellows with K&B's and they always have trouble. I stay away from them and can't recommend them.
They probably didn't know how to set the idle. The only time I have seen anyone with trouble with a K&B either didn't know how to set the idle mixture, or had trash cloging up the carb. But then I haven't seen very many people having trouble with a K&B.
