Default RE: Skyraider Mach II engine mounting problem

ORIGINAL: P-40LUVR

I mounted a GMS .47 in mine and it fit perfect!
You will want to mount that engine as far foward as possible, also loosen the screws that hold the engine mount to the firewall and spread the 2 mounts apart so the engine fits.
With the engine about 3/16 from front of the mount I still had to add some lead.
As for the throttle linkage it was about 1/4 in to short so I had to add a different rod.
I hope this helps!
Oh bye the way I did have to carve the needle valve hole on the fuselage as you can see in the pic and you will love this plane,it is a dream to fly and a lot of fun I had a 40 size engine in mine at first and didn't have the power for what I like, this .47 is PLENTY!
I took it over to my club presidents's house this morning. Dremmeled the mount a little to make it fit right and it's all together now. He checked the whole plane over to see if it was ready to put up. He was impressed with the job I did putting it together. I wanted to do it on my own but i gave in and asked for help. He was very impressed with the plane. he couldn't believe I paid 70$ for it. He said he will have to get one. I had to add a lot of weight to the front in order to get it to balance. Very tail heavy. Seems to be a common problem. I' hoping to maiden it tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!!
