Mine has split elevators and elevons. All four surfaces move up and down for pitch control, just the outboard surfaces move for roll control. I have one Hitec HS225BB servo on each surface.

Mine has retracts and it sits 4" off the ground. The only reason the origonal has such tall gear is to provide adequate prop clearance. I can see why they might have a problem taking off and landing if the prop is hitting the ground. A DF conversion obviously doesn't have that concern. I would have preferred them 0.5 to 1.0" longer but I had some limitations the way I laid out the retracts. The plane takes off and lands fine, of course mine is quite overpowered.
