hey man, i'm here to help and give some advice someone gave to me when i just got into the hobby. you don't really have to go to your lhs, that doesn't matter that much as long as you don't mind waiting a little while to get parts here and there. first off "RTR" means ready to run (if you didn't know). this is what kind of truck you want, an RTR one. kits are for more experienced people. the absolute best truck you can get is a "team associated rc10gt". this is a great truck for newbs, its easy to work on, it has tons of hop-ups (upgrades), its very durable, its cheap, and best of all, its worthy for experienced racers too. here is a link to this truck at the cheapest place you can get it.
