Thanks Ghost, I put an old working plug on the glow clip with dial tuned right down and slowly increased the output, the needle was well within the blue and all of a sudden it jumps right up and burnt the plug out. From now on I'll just use the panel for fuel pump and starter. But if you could suggest a way I might be able to fix the surging prob I will give it a go. Thanks for your assistance.
