WRT the ABC/ABN issue -- the aluminum piston is the wear item, not the nickel or chrome cylinder liner. Nickel is a very hard material, chrome is harder -- both work just fine.
OS seems to have had a lot of trouble with nickle. Wear is not the problem, peeling is.
