Default RE: Rich Fong's air bubble solution

I just built a couple of the "Eddie Weeks" style pleated paper filters using an 8 oz. round Sullivan tank and found a couple of Fram paper filters at a local Pep-Boys store that fit... here's the the Fram part numbers for reference:

1" Long for small (4-6 oz) tanks: F10157, $1.59 ea.

2" long for 8-10 oz. tanks: F10158, $1.99 ea.

Assuming that the comment that the paper filters will supply fuel even if the filter is 95% exposed to air is true, the long filter seems to be the way to go, allowing the header tank to be drained almost completely before running dry. I Aeropoxied the pickup tube to the filter after removing the one-way valve/rubber fitting...found that the filter fit much easier into the tank neck after using a belt sander to grind the rough edges/"bulges" off of the metal ends of the filter (wrap the filter element with tape to keep any metal particles off of it).
