Mike,
It's a DP Extra, weighting 6.8 kg (~15 pounds). I'm using a Kroma 45, turning a Zinger 22x6-10 @ 6600 rpm. Fantastic plane with more than 300 flights.
I think the 50cc plane are a sweet spot for "serious Sunday fliers":
Comparing to a 33%:
- Cost 50-60% less
- Much easier to transport and store
- Fly almost as good, in the hands of a good pilot. Probably for professionals, 40% is the minimum to a decent performance
Comparing to 120 glow:
- The 10 inches in wingspan put you in the "giant scale" league
- Reliability and operational cost of gas - payback in a few months of the initial cost
- Still fit in a SUV or SW without using the front seats
Based on my club sample, I haven't seen a 120+ new engine for a year (some new airframes replacing crashed ones), dozens of 50cc, a few 80-100cc and one 150cc.
