I used a coke bottle in my Hotspot, the best way to stop the clunk folding back on itself is to cut the "plastic pipe" half way down to the clunk and put a 4"-5" length of brass tube the line the put another short length of plastic pipe to the clunk. This will make it impossibl for the cluck to fold back on itself.
