Problem building the H9 Alpha RTF
I've recently purchased the Hanger 9 Alpha Trainer RTF kit.. I'm just getting into the hobby, and have never built anything like this before. Suffice it to say.. it has taken me a little longer than the suggested hour to build this thing, as I have had to go and get a number of tools (haven't been into modelling up to this point.. so I didn't have much tools wise).
In any case.. I pretty much have it together now.. but there are a couple of issues. Most critically, when I (or a servo) deflects the left aileron up.. to approximately 50-60% of what I believe is its intended travel.. there is a "clicking sound". You can see as you move the surface that there is a tension building up and it releases with this sound. The aileron will then continue to move to maximum up deflection normally. If I release it, it returns to 0 degrees without any noise. The other aileron and all the other control surfaces do not make this noise.. so I know it isn't normal. I suspect that some piece of the push rod or hinge is catching on something and making a bit of snapping noise.. but from what I can see.. there is no way to service it without opening the wing.. Which I really do not want to do. But if I have to, I would greatly appreciate some advice as to how to approach this problem.. and what additional tools I might need.
There is a training session at my local club on Tuesday nights.. and I was hoping to get my model into shape to particpate.. but I know this is going to be a grounding problem if I can't fix it.
The other thing I am curious about.. and doesn't appear to be directly addressed by the instruction manual, is: should the servo's be making any noise when both sticks are at neutral? When I first turned the model on.. there was a slight wirring noise. I'm assuming it is my goal to eliminate this by trimming the sticks?
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.
