If the wife is encouraging you to keep at it, take the advice.

If you do decide to get another USL, go with an 18x6 prop instead. It will help slow it down on landing.
I also found that with my CG back around 5.5 inches, it lands so slow that it may have a 30 foot roll (usually less) after landing. I do have mine set up for quad servos on the wing but, don't use flaps or crow. No need really as it slows to a crawl already.
Sorry to hear about the crash - keep at it though - this hobby is too fun, even with the mishaps.
