Default RE: Pn racing speedy BB motor???

It would probably be way too much work to make a Mamba fit in a Mini-Z since in my opinion, the stock Mini-Z design would be all wrong to work with the Mamba. The Mini-Z motor is positioned like a stock Mini-T. If it were more like an M18, then perhaps in an MMT or OL since they are larger in size than the F1/01/02s and have more room to work with. The Castle Creations speed control for the Mamba combo is quite a bit larger than the stock Mini-Z PCB too. There would still need to be room for a Receiver for the modded Mini-Z to handle the Mamba.

Quite frankly, you'd probably be better off trying to make everything fit in a basic Mini-X kit than a Mini-Z. That kit doesn't come with electronics and the motor is mounted like a Radio Shack Xmod. It's my understanding that HPI is now distributing the Xmod overseas and the last I knew, RCMart had the Mini-X kits in stock. However, I still doubt if it will work without some major changes. Better yet, there are also some high-dollar custom "micro" chassis set ups that run around $200 that would probably be better suited for the Mamba. I can't recall a specific manufacturer or a particular model right now and I'm not in front of "my" computer so I can't provide much more information. I should have a link to it on a different computer.

However, you may still be able to make a Mini-Z go 50+ mph. NML (NoMotorLimit) as he calls himself custom winds his own motors and sells them to the public. He had one of his Mini-Zs at 2004 RCX and had a video of his Z on RCPics. The video was down, but it was up again last week, and there was a link on RCU to the original link. Like you, he is also working on some other cars for the speed challenge. I believe one of them may also be an ABC DTMx4. That "micro" car is also at RCMart and can use standard electronics. I've thought about purchasing one several times, but sometimes I hate being the only person around with a particular type of R/C and having to always order parts from overseas.

The following is from one of NML's recent posts at MZR.

In the meanwhile, I will also be producing only 5 Pro-Z based Mini-Z's, guaranteed to reach speeds in excess of 40 mph. These are ARTR (almost ready to run).

Requirments to complete this 40+mph package are:

1. M8 Radio
2. Peak Charger that can handle 10 cells.
3. Big parking lot, or a street with an ultra smooth pavement.
4. The desire to see something approximately 6 - 7 inches long go faster than some cars passing by. This car turns heads!

The car consist of:
1. Pro-Z based chassis
2. CLK GTR Body
3. Special Drive Train - some from ABC parts
4. Sub-Micro servo
5. 1/10th scale ESC w/ Nomotorlimit
6. FM Receiver
7. 10 cells
8. Special V12 motor that is ultra smooth, yet plenty of power and speed.
9. Ball Bearings

Price: Was being offered for $450.00 but after doing the calculations, based on labor and parts, the price is now $490.00 plus shipping.
