Ideally you dont want to use any of the other stuff if you dont need it. and can correct the problems machanically instead of with the transmitter.. But everyone does including me..

BUT,, Adding a 2nd rate would be a good thing to learn how to do.
Heres how.

Before you do ANYTHING make note of where your current throws are set. Measure with a ruler if you cant get it in degrees with a "throwmeter". Pay close attention to where you surfaces are trimmed to when the tx and rx are ON and the plane is just sitting there. You want neutral trim to stay the exact same.

Endpoint tells the surface what its maximum potentail throw can be. It limits all other functions except the snap switch settings.
To setup dual rates... For starters...
1. Go to the Endpoint function on the 1st menu screen (not the mix screen) and ease the elevator rate up until you can get about 15-20 degrees of elevator throw, you should probably be at about 10 degrees with standard throws Im guessing. If the numbers are already at 140 that is a good thing,, then you will just have to move the pushrod out on the servo horn or in closer to the control surface to get more throw.. BE Careful and be sure you can put things back like they were,,,,or get help...
2. Go to the Aileron endpoint function and increase the aileron rate till you can get 20-25 degrees throw... You may have to move the pushrod clevis in to the hole closest to the surface on the aileron and elevator control horns to do this. If the numbers are already at 140 then you will have to move the pushrod out on the servo horn or in closer to the control surface to get more throw.. BE Careful and be sure you can put things back like they were,,,,or get help...

3. Double the rudder throw with the endpoint setting if possible, if at 140 in both directions,,,, see above.

4. OK go to dual rate/expo screen. Select Channel 1 (Options are 1,2,3,4) for aileron at the top of the screen
5. Go to the bottom of the screen and select a switch to control dual rates, A - Z or whatever they are marked on the Tx. I use the switch on the far right. UP is high rate DOWN is low rate(my preference) Once you do this you will have to flip the switch up to adjust high rates and down to adjust low rates for each control surface DR Expo setting.
6. Again, Select which way the switch will work (position)
7. While on Channel 1, Go back up to the rate and set the rate so that aileron throws left and right are equal at 20-25 degrees with the switch UP (high rate)(Actuate the aileron stick back and forth to toggle from left to right settings)
8. Set the expos at about -50 to start. (Actuate the aileron stick back and forth to toggle from left to right settings)
9. Flip the switch down and repeat steps 7and 8 but set the low rate throws where your throws are now...
10. Go back and repeat steps 4-9 on channel 2 for elevator and channel 4 for rudder. You will have to select a switch at a switch position for each of the 4 channels.. Again I use the same switch and the same switch position for aileron, elevator and rudder.
I use the same switch to control all rates on my sport planes, just to keep it simple..
**If the high rate throws are too much just come back to this screen and lower the throw 5-10 and try again.
**If the rate is ok but it is too sensitive, increase the expo by making the expo number more negative ie -50 go to -60 and try it...
** I use a LOT more rudder throw AND expo. Most guys I know have maximum rudder throw on all rates, but use maybe -75 expo. That way low or high rates you have plenty of rudder throw.

Caution.. Just be sure that you are aware that too much rudder on landing approach can possibly stall a symmetrical or dihedral winged plane and cause it to snap into the ground. So get used to the rudder and dont overdo it until you get used to it..

Always take the plane off and land on low rates. Once in the air and 3 mistakes high flip to high rates and carefully see what you have done. If its bad, flip the switch back down and cut the high rates back or add expo until you can manage the plane. If its good, GOOD just be sure to go back to low rates before landing...........Know for sure I MEAN FOR SURE where the switch is and be sure you can flip it without looking at it in case you get in trouble..

The 9C manual has most of this setup info in it so refer the the manual if you need more setup help.
