Jon caught me out. I saw "Vent" in the first post, and ignored "Muffler."
The crank case port needs at least 4" of hose, going out the bottom. The muffler vent is used for tank pressure. BUT, in some installations the Saitos will run fine without muffler pressure.
In the case of the Cline (or Iron Bay) regulator the muffler port is used, through a check valve, to pressurize the tank.
While inertia of the air column allows the crank case port to be used for operating a Perry VP-30 pump, I doubt you'd get a high enough peak pressure there for the Cline or Iron Bay, since you have to use a tee and maintain the crank case vent to atmosphere.
