I have been doing “flips” in RealFlight G2. Is it possible to do flips with an actual R/C plane. Or stated another way, what does it take to do flips with an actual R/C plane. Let me elaborate a bit:
I downloaded some files from “The Unofficial G2 Swap Page” (
http://zeus.rcwizard.com/fubar_hill/G2.htm). I downloaded a recording entitled “Christophe Paysant Le Roux Cap demo recording” In this recording the plane starts from the torque roll position (completely vertical) and quickly flips (nose over tail) and returns to the torque roll position (repeatedly and about a foot off the ground) – very impressive flying. I tried this with various planes – and I could not do it. At best, I got loops, not flips.
Then I downloaded the SIG Somethin' Extra file (Add-on 1 - based on Extra 300 - Charlie Cain). This model is awesome, flips and harriers – no problem (in fact, easy - perhaps too easy ). I sure hope the real plane flys like the G2 model.
Fly as vertical as possible, reduce the throttle until the plane stops climbing and actually begins to drop tail first, snap to full throttle and full elevator (up or down) and "presto" … the plane flips. Not very difficult, but really fun. You can do them forward or backwards.
Charlie set the model up with very high rates and pretty fast servos. So is this really possible with SIG Somethin' Extra. If so, perhaps I’ll be getting one (O.S. 46FX and 5 Hitec 605 servos look like all that is required). If not, is it realistically possible with any R/C plane. Please don’t tell me I need a 40% Carden with multiple digital servos all around and a 3W 150 engine.
Thanks,
Moses
