RE: Wildhare 35% Extra 300LX
Not downsizing the big Extra, it is and will remain the flagship of our product line. By far the best flying and looking plane of any 35% ARF (IMHO) it's also the costliest to buy and complete of all our products. Its size requires a strong 100cc engine, and that means you're in for over 2 grand just for the plane and the engine. As price gets larger market gets smaller, it's an immutable law of economics.
What I AM doing is upsizing the Extra Special because a lot of people have asked for it. It will be 100cc class, but will still fly well with a ZDZ-80 or good 3w 75. The plane itself will be $200 less than the big 330LX, and I figure the completed cost with a ZDZ-80 only about $500 more than The 28% planes. This should allow people to jump up to the larger class, and fly IMAC competitively, for not much more than they are spending now.
I like the smaller planes, but many people feel they would be more competitive with a larger plane if they could afford it.
This was the strategy that brought out our Giles G202, except a lot of people, for whatever reason, don't like the Giles design and asked for another plane in that same size.
