Default RE: Lithium Polymer Cells for Mini-t

ORIGINAL: telemark07

ok if anyone is worried about charging lipos ..dont be!
I think there is a small group of die hard nicad and nimh that are creating quite a bit of stir about them being so dangerious.
I have been working with lipos for over 2 years now mainly with helis.
there are some rules as with any batterys.
use a Lipo charger. set the right cell count and current ( no more the 1c)
and have not had any problems with them at all.

i personly use a very special safty device incase anything goes wrong since i am charging them in my study.
I will sell them to nay one that would like one for a bargin basement price of $20 usd each including shipping.

My very special saftey feature ...a coffee cup!! hahahhah put your cell in the cup when charging and there you have your fire proof saftey feature.

I have seen them tested with a old cell that balooned up ..... put a bit of carboard under it and over charged it .... the cardboard was warm but not burnt....the cup on the other hand was cracked and fell apart after it cooled but held up during the test.

lipos are quite safe as long as you have a good charger. i personly use the triton ..It has cut out once ...when I forgot to balance a new pack and over charged on cell.

but Now I have a question which size pinions are you all using ...I have a permax motor and am not too sure about the pinion selections.

cheers
AMEN!

I love the Coffee cup idea!!!!

I 100% agree with EVERYTHING you have said. As long as you follow the rules.....anything is safe!
