If you are flying small electrics Parks and School yards are good places PROVIDED you are allowed and that they aren't too crowded RC planes allways seem to generate a crowd when flown especially with kids. Sounds like you are planning to learn on your own? If that is the case I'd find the largest and most remote area for your initial flights for safety's sake
