I think that as model flyers, lots of the guys I know disregard the fact that staring up into the sky (even on a cloudy day) submits your eyes to a tremendous amount of UVA/B radiation. That is proven over time to deteriorate your vision. I started wearing sunglasses at an early age and I plan to keep my good sight for as long as possible. ALso, glasses keep your face from developing stress headaches from squinting all day, and of course protect your eyes like a good pair of safety glasses (most good glasses today meet or exceed the current standard of safety rating)

Some guys I know will spend thousands on a plane, but are hesitant to spend $100 on a decent pair of glasses. Our vision should be worth more than that?!

ANY good sunglasses made today, regardless of tint will have the UV blocking ability, even clear safety lens'. Many cheaper "supermarket or variety store" glasses are just tinted glass/plastic and dont do anything but cut the light level.

My opinion is go to a good sporting goods store, try on LOTS of glasses in various styles and tints and see what you feel most comfortable wearing, and what looks good to YOUR eyes. What works for one guy may not work for another!
