Well, good news; I finally sat down to do some work to the model. Noticed when I glued the ailerons
they are slightly inset so the tip of the wing and the aileron don't line up. Did the same on both sides... must have been
looking at the trailing edge of the aileron. Oh well, minor! lol
In one evening, All servos are installed w/ extensions, new pushrods cut and installed on ailerons w/ new hinges.
Fuel tank and tubing installed, and I futzed around with the stock engine mount for a bit before I got the Saito
1.80 to fit. I manages to make a small inset on the firewall for the edge of the saito's carb to sit in, giving me
a couple extra mm to work with. Throttle linkage was easy to relocate, and worked out nicely. The saito barely fits,
as it is a little wider then the smaller engines. Lots of trimming on the bottom of the cowl, but it came out nicely w/ a small
hole to the left for needle valve access. This thing looks like a monster w/ the hemi sticking out the bottom. I love it [8D]
The only thing I am wary of is the carb feed is below the tank. I ran the exhaust to the tank instead of using the crank option.
I bolted up the landing gear brackets just to take a look at clearance issues, if any, and made some adjustments to the
saito's muffler.
There is not a heck of a lot more to do! Just attach stabilizers, and make new pushrods for them. Do the landning gear + wheelpants
and make some final adjustments to the cowl. Finishing touches will be my tru turn spinner, and decals..... then test the CG with RX/battery placement.\
This is a fast ARF so far. My club picnic is this Sunday.. and this one WILL be flying. I'll spend most of Friday and Saturday breaking in the engine however.
We'll see how far I get in the next night or 2.
