Mike,
Facts are NOT insults.
When the membersof District V are insulted by a candidate who runs for an office they have no qualifications for and are doing if from a sham appointment then they are going to get heat.
As far as "chiming in" I have taken a lot of shots for it, both on the Battery/Charger forum and rec.models.rc.air newsgroup. If you have an oppinion there will be someone that will want a notch on their keyboard for taking a shot at you.
Taking heat? I was threatened with expulsion from the AMA (promoted by McNeill) when I fingered a guy that was spreading false crap about the AMA. Our present President's exact words.
" If their speech is critical of AMA, so be it! Let AMA worry about that! If you have the unwaivering need to "defend" AMA, that's fine, but DO IT AS RED SCHOLEFIELD, AMA member, not AMA LEADER member, which carries with it an air of your "representing" AMA, rather than representing Red Scholefield." Now you know were Leader Members stand in the pecking order in the eyes of DB.
When I retired I told Bob Wallace (former AVP Dist I) when we were working the Toledo show in the RCM booth that I was going to get more involved in the AMA. Time I paid my dues for all the years I had been enjoying modeling. His sage advice, "Don't do it, it will ruin the hobby for you." Well it didn't ruin my hobby but it gave me real wake up call as to how our AMA does business, particularly in D-V. But then it was too late, in for a nickle, in for a dollar as they say.
Red S.
former D-V AVP
Try to do it by the book and they will slam the book on you!

Good points Red, but do you think it benefits anyone to insult any given candidate? I agree that they need to "take the heat" so to speak, but would you be motivated to "chime in" with those kind of responses? I certainly not taking up for Mrs. Dunlap and she certainly doesn't have my vote but some of those comments are very disrespectful and not very adult-like.
Thanks,
Mike
