I did glue the wings together and found that the extra keel was not needed.

Velcro will work fine for the tips. Use the Industrial Strength Velcro.

The Himax 2025 should work fine. It won't have as much power as the Kontronik 400 but should still beat out the stock Speed 400 by a longshot.
