I just finished putting together WM extra 300s 80" with ZDZ40 gas engine (my first gas engine/plane). Started the bird today and ran into some problems which I need to resolve before the test flight.
When the engine is running full throttle, I am getting interference when I go around the plane with my TX Futaba 8U - either one stub or full antenna out. This interference only happens at a shorter distance not when I am doing range check from a greater distance. Secondly, the left aileron is shaking a lot and virtually it is difficult to hold it. The prop is balanced to its closest range.
Things which I need to upgrade shortly, changing FM receiver to PCM futaba receiver. Going to put metal gears in hitec 605bb servos for ailerons.
The setup of the plane is as follows:
Mounted the electronic ignition module on the left side of eng. box (looking back from front). Question, is there a distance which I need to keep in between engine and module?
Throttle servo has nylon linkage and sitting 12" away for the ignition module. The receiver is 18" away from the module. The 2 battery packs are 6" away module and are mounted side by side with a gap of 1". Antenna wire is encased in nylon tube and is not touching or near any servo.
Please I will really appreciate if you guys help me out here. Thanks, Jamal
