For the small fries, I have even used mixed drink straws for the fuselage exit and criss-crossed the pull-pulls. sullivan makes golden rod, plastic, light weight push rods that work as well a cables. I love them for throttle cables, since they are more flexible than solid steel. I have had several .40 sized planes that used one sixteenth music wire very successfully for pull-pull. Model Tech's magic series is a case in point. With solid wire, you don't need sheeves for the wire, just slots for the wire coming out at the back of the fuse.
