35cc gasser starts hard too,,,,
35cc Red Head gasser starting procedure
Maybe this will help with diagnosing my problem with "no pulling power on my take-offs" ???
my motor starts hard !!, with my motor on the stand or in the plane with the cowl on or off, with the smaller fuel line or larger fuel line, hot, warm or cool basically it starts the same way all the time,,, I have found the starting procedure (below) is the easiest way to start my motor, "but to me it seems like a lot of work to start it !!",,,
(keep in mind, that, on this carb the choke is linked to the throttle-linkage/arm, so to hold the choke closed I have to move my idle trim up a few 3 or 4 clicks,,, plus I have moved my throttle spring back on the throttle arm so there is only a very little bit of tension), the linkage all still works good,,, after the motor is warm (choke open) the motor will idle good when the trim knob is in the middle, around 1900 RPM,,,
procedure 1, priming ,,,
close choke, ignition off, flip prop AT THE VERY LEAST 30 times, (at this point if I flipped say only 25 times I will not see gas on the choke-butterfly and procedure 2 will need a lot more flipping !!,,,
procedure 2, popping the motor,,,
choke still closed, turn ignition on, flip prop 12~~14 times and then the motor will pop,,,
procedure 3, starting,,,
now open choke, ignition on, flip prop 12~~14 times and the motor will start,,,
(that is a total of 50~~55 flips)
even if my motor is warm and has been running for 5 or 10 minutes, if I stall it by lowering the idle it takes 10~~14 more flips to start it again !!
to me all this seems like a lot of work to start my MVVS, because my friends BME, 3W, Zenoah only need a total of 10 or 15 flips,,,
and in the summer at 75,80, 90 degrees my motor will NOT start and stay running with the choke closed, it will only pop to life for 1/2 a second and then stall, it has NEVER stayed running for any longer than that 1/2 second with the choke closed !!
if you need more info just ask what you need to know,,, others are welcome to PM or Email me about this if they want,,,
thank again for your time !!
Jim
Ps, I will not be able to fly my plane for a week or 2 because I need to do some work to a wing,,, but I can start it.
