Default WM Extra 300

Capt G, to learn from other's experiences, there is a short list of items to monitor during construction.

1. Motor box is easy to build but may not fit the square openings in the bulkheads when finished. THe box sides were sanded to get the fit but if checked prior to assembly, one could size the formers horizontally, then glue.

2. The rear fin post is only major support for the fin assembly as the front vane/protrusion is glued directly atop a thin rail that provides a butt for the stab roots. Some Kevlar/glass on each side of the fin vane and stab rail would help here.

3. To get proper geometry on stabs, one may end up pulled away from the butt rail in the front leaving a noticeable 1/8" gap. Some filler and extra covering would make it look perfect again, but that dedicates you to permanently attaching the stabs. You could over haul the entire stab root. Some will go for looks and a less than perfect geometry.

4. The wing retainer bolts are far forward on the root, tightening can pull the trailing edge away from the fuse. Another retainer near the rear of the airfoil would help. The gap seemed to get better with time on Dave's plane.

5. Other fliers are reporting looseness of the wing spar in the tube and are using packing tape on the spar. Thank goodness they are not too tight like my last plane. That was painful.

6. In, general, the stab mount needs something if you're a gasser fan and even 3D'ers should consider this. I think we should open up the thread for suggestion on this.
