RE: CA models ZAFIRO impresions?
Well, I finally finished my Zafiro. I flew it today for the first time. It was quite windy so I didn't attempt anything other than keeping it in the air. Despite the gusts of wind, it handled very nicely. This is my first pattern plane so I don't know exactly how to describe how it flew other than very fast and it went where I pointed it, let me repeat, very fast!
So, here are the specs:
YS 1.10
Hatori pipe
JR 8103 with three DS811 and two Hitech digital mini servos and one other generic mini for throttle
Paint is PPG and covering is Monokote
I haven't been able to weigh it yet but it seems pretty light and by the way it flew I think it is alright. The take off was very short, power simply is not an issue. I cruised about half throttle into the wind and idle downwind (not kidding). As for stalls, it was pretty uneventful, which is ok with me. Landing was easy and smooth. It needed a little down and right trim but it was not bad at all. I can't wait until it's calm so I can push it a little more. Overall, I am very pleased with the plane. It was fun putting it together and I learned a lot. I chose to put in wing adjusters but I don't know how necessary they were. Adding the pipe wasn't to bad, just a little more work but I love the lines of the fuse, especially the front so I wanted to preserve as much of the fuse as I could.
