There is nothing wrong with Kelvlar cable if you make the assumption that wear points need to be protected. Thin teflon tubing (as used for CA) works very well CA itself works also. You can avoid the problem with Kevlar by using nylon covered stainless fishing leader line. With that I had never had any problem and it's cheap like dirt.
