Mark, glad you're going to have a go with the ZDZ 40. I've been thinking about doing a similar thing for some time, but have other constraints on my available time. Got the idea from Dick in the first place, have several of his previous pattern designs and a very nice Staudacher complete with ZDZ 40. My son Steve never really got into IMAC but quite often fly will the current FAI schedule with this model. We have found the ZDZ 40 an excellent, light weight motor, easy to set up and completely reliable. We have a KS exhaust system at the moment which works well with the motor. It may be a starting point to look at their other pipe setups for F3A. By the way, I've got Dick's excellent notes on setting up ZDZ engines if you need them.
