Eric, the connectors most of us are using on this set-up are the Deans Micros. On your battery choice, it's a personal preference but I like the 3s 1200 mAh packs. The Feather should work fine. There are a bunch of suppliers who cater to electrics other than the "Empire". If you need a list, I can give you a few sites.
