I have the first Rs4, and its belt driven. Belt driven is pretty dam good. The belts and pulleys might wear out after a year or two if u drive the car every single day. But i bought aluminum pulleys so worn out pulleys are no problem for me. u can get almost every single part on a Rs4 3 in aluminum or graphite, lol. Hop ups are everywhere, dont worry.
