I have a Bisson side mount on one G23 and a Slimline pitts style muffler on another one. Both are well made and good choices for a G23. They turn a Master Classic 16 x 8 prop between 9000 - 9400 depending on the temperature. Very satisfied. The little Bennet is not really a muffler, it might turn a few more rpm but you are right, I did not care for the noise level either.
