Default RE: VectorFlight Rec. Engine Increase?

Thanks for the response guys. I also heard back from VF and they said in response to many customers desires to use a larger engine they have tested their Edge and Extra (66" ) with the 120 size. They found their planes can handle it with practical throttle management so they updated the range. They also advise the use of flying wires for extra protection against tail issues if using a larger engine.

I got the feeling they are more comfortable recommending the bigger engines only with the above mentioned precautions instead of just saying the plane will handle it no problem. I agree and think anyone using more than a 100 in this plane should do some basic beefing up like others have said (adding tri-stock to the firewall and flying wires.) It doesn't hurt to have a little extra insurance.

VF customer service continues to impress. They answered my question via email in less than 8 hours and were very helpful, up-front and friendly. Great product, great service, and excellent prices - you just gotta love that. Thanks VectorFlight!

This thing is going to be ballistic with a YS 110. Buuhhuuwaahaahahhaaa
