Actually, the fuel tank does go in a bit further, remaining only 1" to 1-1/2" out past the former. I have finished the fuel plumbing, though I have still have to reseat the tank and put in a balsa crossmember to hold it in place. There is plenty of room for foam insulation as well. The 3 line setup tested well, and shuld make a cowled fueling much easier with the fuel dot placed in the fuse side behind the firewall.
