What kind of battery? NiCd, NiMh, Lipo. How many cells? What's the battery for?

If it's NiCd or NiMh, you should have a charger than can do at least C/10. In your case that would be 2700/10 = 270ma. Then it will take 10 hours to slow charge it.

For a fast/peak charge you'll need at least 2.7 amp charger to charge it at 1C. Then it will charge in 1 hour at the most.
