I've moved your thread to the indoor and micro electric area to get a better answer from those that practice this stuff.
And my own 2cents. There's gear available that will fly this sort of model but it's not typcial and it's not cheap. I think the RFFS equipment will do the job and there's a good selection of super small motors and the new Li-poly batteries will work great. You'll also need to learn to build very light with sticks and covering similar to the lightest free flight type models like peanut scale and similar designs.
Also I would suggest you start with something in the 16 to 18 inch span region. Unless you've built and flown such models you have a lot to learn before taking on the challenge of a sub 10 inch model.
